Increasingly, technology
enhanced learning (TEL) scenarios are conceived from an integrated
perspective, moving beyond software operating on a single computer or
web-based learning environments involving a single user. More recent
approaches are centered around the combination of different software
tools, web resources and peripherals (primarily smart objects and mobile
devices) in a way that enhances the "educational workflow",
avoiding discontinuities in the learning processes, facilitating? the
creation, transformation, aggregation and re-use of learning objects.
Mobile and ubiquitous learning environments (MULEs) are the concrete
manifestation of this trend. The continued growth of MULEs suggests that
in the coming years, a concerted effort will be made to include these
technological innovations in educational practices.
The first
MULE workshop was held in Beijing
on December 1st, 2006 in conjunction with ICCE2006.
